This track is a slow paced affair on the moody tip with the A side ‘Run Hard’ being a more uptempo joint, with Usmaan on guest vocals of the hook, and self produced by Jehst, as is most of the new LP… Speaking of Usmaan, he has a 12” out on new label Cryogenic records. The tune for us is the Asaviour produced b-side of ‘You’re The Same’, the a-side, a much slower tune featuring Mr Riz & Jamal Cooke is also nice, I just prefer the other lick. Watch out for this label as they have forthcoming releases ready from Lost Souls, Skriblah, Skillz Ferguson, plus Danger & D Brown (Leeds) feat.Willo (London-The Colony crew)…

London's Underground Alliance crew also drop 'Beat Brickies-The Mix Vol.1' from their DJ's Moodie, Colombo & Blunted. This CD features specials and freestyles from various Undali emcees along with UK tunes from new to old, kinda liking this one, a nice mixture of ish nish... And finally Spit Fire Rec. collective drop their first release of many, a heavy 8 track CD from Conflix, a new MC that you may not have heard of, till now, check it out, some very good production holds it down for Conflix rhyming, which leads the way on all fronts, one to watch for... Zebra Traffic also drop the first 7" for the label 'Key To The City', from producers Simpson & The Lazy One alongside guest MC's on this dubby affair Mr J & HP from the Lost Souls collective, and ex Metaphorce MC, Debut 75. Glad to have him back on wax. Next to come will be a Life EP featuring 'Always Living', a Mr Thing remix of 'Rock It Right', 'It's Not About That' & a Baghdad remix of 'Bush & Blair'... Also watch for the killer 12" soon to drop from Lowlife, it's a Jehst remix of 'Adventures In New Bohemia' which fu#king rocks, alongside another remix featuring Asaviour & Yungun, whoop whoop!

24/07/2003 Canteen Records have a dope EP in stock right about now, it's been sitting in the office for a week whilst we have been playing, and re-playing, and re-playing it. Now I feel I've digested it enough to launch onto you folks, it's by Sam Sure & Giacomo and is called 'The Fresh Air EP'. It comprises of 8 tracks all produced by Giacomo (pronounced Jackamo), with the unknown to us, Sam Sure on vocal duties, who is he, where has he been? He's ok I tell you, very precise and thoughtfull lyrics combine well with the smooth production. Seriously it took us a while to truly appreciate this release as it's come from nowhere and really surprised us, something for the nice weather! In fact a breath of fresh air...

22/07/2003 Nottingham's Styly Cee drops a 12" today, featuring fellow Notts homeboy Midnyte & femcee C-Mone on vocal duties, and they do the boy proud to. C-Mone's 'Joyriders' takes a look at the boy-racers out there, or girl-racers come to think of it. Over some rugged Styly production, a good taster for C-Mone's forthcoming EP coming very soon, also on Son Records. The flip side 'Kofi's Night' with Midnyte also rocks, as he lets you know why Notts got a rep in the first place. Big and bold, loud and proud... We also have the new 12" from Kemet, after the awesome Klashnekoff single joint Terra Firma member Kyza steps up with a solo joint. Both bangers are produced by Harry Love and both bangers truly bang, oh yes. Simple yet very melodic production lay the ground for Kyza to rhyme over with some splendid verses over both tracks, surely another classic hit for Harry, Kemet & also Kyza?... Oh yeah, The Answer's UK Hip Hop mix CD Vol.16 is now back in stock, also watch for two new UK Hip Hop mix CD's coming your way, both called 'Bangers N Mash' (it's a long story, but neither DJ knew of each others plans), ones from DJ Woody, and the other is from Rob Life, more news soon on these...

Si's mix isn't just your ordinary cut & paste track. The thing that sets this 12" apart from the hundreds of other mixes of this genre is its use of tight ass midi sequencing. He has used approx 454 samples including pitched down Brazilian marimbas, late 80's Westwood slang, naturally some bollywood, obscure Czech folk, a keyboard recreation of a music library banga, a Motown cover version, classic old school rock drums, Brian Cant vocals for good measure, and of course some old time roots reggae. Cop it now on limited edition one sided vinyl... Tommy Evans's new 12" on Ill Flava will be with us shortly, and it's dope, two cuts produced by Karl Hinds lace Mr Evans nicely...

18/07/2003 After working with his now defunct Fleapit crew and many others super dope producer Secondson teams up with Taskforce for a splendid 3 track 12". It flows in a similar vain to 'Voice Of The Great Outdoors' in places and truly stands out as a class release. On 'Valley Of The Crows' a classical guitar driven arrangement drifts like an intoxicating fog through which the Highbury duo lace them lines with perfection. 'All we Bring Is Danger' finds the boys picking up their pitchforks to inflict some torment of their own over a hellish Secondson score. The joint for me though is 'This Is Greasy Listening', this is what the world would be like if Taskforce reached daytime radio play, check it, some very funny voice overs. This 12" is a mere taste of what's to come from the 'Secondson & His Orchestra' solo album later in the year. Watch for the next 12" with Lewis Parker, freshness... Taskforce's 'Graf Da Bus Up' b/w 'Wha Blow!' is also back in stock on a limited run... And their 'MFTC Vol.2' CD will be out in 2 weeks folks... Whahey!!!

25/06/2003 If your thirsty for the release of Cappo’s P Brothers produced LP on Zebra Traffic (it’s fresh by the way) ‘Spaz The World’, then you can’t go far wrong to quench that thirst and pick up ED209’s ‘Superexstatic’ EP now in. Produced by Leicester’s ED209 and mixed by the P Brothers, featuring Nottingham’s Cappo and Leicester brothers eyezofman & 15 year old A-Bomb, this being their first outing on wax while currently working with Out Da Ville and their own 12” + Vol.2 of ‘Superexstatic’. Expect some heavy shiz people, this is dope. ED209 favours the raw MPC shit, nah mean. Both production wise and lyrically this release holds all corners locked, and in the words of Mrs Murray from Melton ‘I'm not sure if I get it, but I quite like the noise’… Up to Edinburgh now and those Yard Emcees finally hit the world with their own slab of that good vinyl. Three tracks feature and all are on point, this crew cement well together and the Scottish accent reps with one emcee if I’m correct, while the others are a mixture between raw reggae toasting and straight up UK twang steez. Anyway, I know some people tend to steer clear of Scottish Hip Hop because of the accent?, what I’m saying this is not your straight up Scottish accent Hip Hop, make sense? 20/05/2003 Mud Fam's Mr Ti2bs brings forth a follow up to his 'North Stars Rising' mix CD with a 15 track compilation of unreleased and exclusive material on the solo tip, well, there's guests Skinnyman on 'Bangers', Sincere on 'Definition Of A Friend' and Bigga on a remix of 'We Don't Care' but other than them it's solo tracks with a couple of freestyles thrown in to add to the dopeness. Personally I prefer this to 'North Stars Rising', which is selling out fast now by the way, but make your own mind up. There's enough scope on here to cement Ti2bs well and truly on the map as one MC to keep checking for in the future, both on the solo flex and with Mud Family. Compiled by Mr Ti2bs & J-Red for First Man Productions and in stock now... On another note, it's all about Sydney's Micke Morphingaz joint '7 Dayz Of Herb' featuring London's very own scanking rude bwoy Seanie T, coming soon, fire blaze shit trust me!

19/05/2003 Yet another two slammin' releases in today, super dope producer Keith Lawrence teams up with the mighty Mystro for a double A side 12" 'Step By Step' b/w 'Everywhere'. Both jams are fully locked and on point on all levels, both beat wise and lyrically. Keith is seriously churning out some bangers these days, and Mystro just kills both joints, catch it now, out on his own Muzik-Ed Productions label... Dented Records also drop their 2nd release, the Foreign Beggars 'Seasons Beatings EP', 3 tracks feature, one teamed up with Taskforce, one with Dark Circle & one by themselves. Another varied release with all 3 tracks bringing something different to the table, just check 'Evil Dr Hip Hop' for a drum and bass style chorus on a Hip Hop tune. Eh? It takes a while but grabs you soon enough, another quality product from the Beggars and it's only the 2nd release (tasty cover too)...

15/05/2003 Two of this years best releases by far are now in stock. YNR Productions double a side 12", 'Seein' Red' feat.Farma G (Taskforce), Jehst, Skriblah & Sundragon (Supa T), with production coming from Cee-Why and a blues guitar riffed head banger of a beat. Alongside a stripped down and soothing Evil Ed remix too. The flip 'Party Animals' feat.Tommy Evans, Doc Brown & Usmaan produced by LG & Lopez kicks arse, literally, a super club banger with some rockin production and lyrics. This 12" comes in cheaper too at £3.99. Watch out for the 'Young N Restless Vol.1' compilation CD from which this is lifted coming soon... The second release is Klashnekoff's second 12" for Kemet Entertainment. A Harry Love produced corker, 'Murda' & 'Parrowdice' which features Klashnekoff's crew Terrafirma, and emcee's Kyza Smirnoff & Skriblah Dangogh (yes him again). Both joints are heavy and well worthy of a purchase. Please do not nod off (sleep)...

He's a kinda like the hidden link between emcees Aceyalone, Skinnyman, Eminem & I dunno, Farma G? The track with Anthropologist upon further listening is funny as fu@k with Anthro being DPF's escaped 'mental' mate from hospital. The whole EP really does have a slice of music for everyone's tastes...
